About

Hello! Let me introduce myself…

I’m a twenty-something girl, going through life with a mind full of curiousity and a heart full of love. And a sarcastic sense of humour.

The whole need for blogging arises for me because I express myself more freely while writing rather than in direct conversations. Weird, I know. Or you could just say I’m slightly introverted. At least until I get to know you a little.

Why is this blog called ‘The Serious Butterfly’?

I think butterflies are beautiful, and I knew I wanted that word in my blog title. And I also needed a title which no one else had used before and was unique (because at the back of my mind, I was dreaming of a day when my blog would reach celebrity status and become a brand name).

And then it struck me – The Serious Butterfly. Refers to my straight-faced humour and the fact that I would be flying about from one topic to another like a butterfly. (Now that I’ve explained it, I wonder whether it takes the novelty away. Hmmm.)

When a quick Google search confirmed that no one had thought of this title before, I claimed it for my own, and the rest, as they say, is history. And the present and the future too, because I intend to keep this blog going forever (figure of speech my friends).

So do I not write ANY serious (literally serious) articles?

I do! Whenever I feel strongly about something, or some incident moves me emotionally, you’ll probably find something about it here. And I’ll try and impress upon you that life is not all fun and games. But I’ll probably also be smiling at Calvin and Hobbes an hour later, because though I won’t completely forget the serious happenings, I’m good at bouncing back. And because it’s simply natural to gravitate towards happiness, and, as I like to say, “life may not be a bed of roses, but it isn’t barren land either”.

“Life is worth living as long as there is a laugh in it” – Lucy Maud Montgomery

As long as you find something which makes you smile and laugh, you’ll do just fine. And I hope you find something of that kind here, on my blog.

To give you an idea about what you’re in for if you read further (and I sincerely hope you do!), I love reading books, doing innovative art & craft projects, music, dance, photography, visiting new places, being sarcastic, making people laugh, laughing, watching movies and being with friends and family.

Hope to see you around!

  1. Haha you didn’t seem very introverted but I know *exactly* what you’re talking about being able to express better in writing!

    • Yes, it’s very true that I’m far more open and outgoing since coming to college. But I still can’t be the first one to pick up a conversation (unless my mom is poking me in the back and muttering things).

      *High Five* :)

  2. Irrepressible dreamer is a good thing to be, Sanchari. You have very interesting adjectives to describe yourself, and I suspect that all of them are quite apt. Which is rather formidable, really! All the best for everything.

    • Thanks Priya!
Dreaming of hopeful things always keep me going in life. But I feel every person is an irrepressible dreamer…so it’s nothing formidable :)

      Thank you again :)
